Achille Castiglioni (Milan 1918-2002), architect and designer, one of the great masters of Italian design, won the Compasso d’Oro award nine times. He worked in the fields of architecture, urban planning and industrial design.
Among his many famous projects conceived and designed together with his brother Pier Giacomo are the “Mezzadro” and “Sella” seats (1957), the “Sanluca” armchair (1959), the “Luminator” (1955) and “Arco” (1962) floor lamps, the “Taccia” table lamp (1962); their projects are part of the collections of the major design museums in the world, from the MoMA in New York to the Triennale di Milano.
